According to the latest evaluations, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology rose to the first place. While Princeton fell to second place, Harvard University took third place on the list.
Methodology Changes Played a Role
U.S. News officials stated that significant methodological changes were made in the 2027 rankings. Within this scope, a new earnings ranking factor evaluating students' earnings four years after graduation was also included in the process.
Status of Institutions and State Universities
While MIT did not directly comment on the top ranking title, it expressed satisfaction due to its reputation among elite institutions. Meanwhile, private institutions completely dominated the first 19 spots on the list.
In the state university category, UC Berkeley and UCLA shared the title of best public university by scoring the same points at the 20th position on the list.
