Dr. Tran Van Khai, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Science, Technology and Environment of Vietnam, stated that science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation must be effectively implemented for the country to achieve its double-digit growth targets.
New Era Growth Targets
The National Assembly's target for 2026 is set at 10 percent or more, and labor productivity is required to increase by approximately 8.5 percent.
The Importance of Total Factor Productivity
Stating that capital and labor factors have reached their limits, Dr. Tran Van Khai noted that total factor productivity remains the only remaining source of growth.
Administrative Obstacles and Financial Issues
It was reported that some of the resources allocated to science and technology could not be spent due to the lack of proposed tasks and administrative barriers.
The Role of the Private Sector and Scientists
It was emphasized that businesses and the private sector should be more strongly involved in the process, R&D expenditures should be increased, and scientists should be placed at the center.
