South African Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Blade Nzimande stated during his speech at the Pujiang Innovation Forum in Shanghai that cooperation with China in strategic areas such as artificial intelligence, space science, and quantum computing should be increased.

Call Made at the Forum

South African Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Blade Nzimande called for closer cooperation with China in the fields of science and technology, stating that this partnership is of critical importance in bilateral relations. Minister Nzimande made significant remarks at the 2026 Pujiang Innovation Forum held in the city of Shanghai.

New Areas of Cooperation

The South African minister stated that they would engage in closer cooperation with China on issues such as artificial intelligence, joint research centers, space science and astronomy, quantum computing, cybersecurity, and the support of youth. It was emphasized that this partnership is based on solidarity, development cooperation, and multilateral interaction.

Expanding Partnership

It was noted that the cooperation between the two countries has expanded to cover areas such as health, traditional medicine, astronomy, forestry, paleontology, and energy research. Furthermore, attention was drawn to the Young Scientists Exchange Program, and the importance of these projects was expressed.
