Strengthening Healthcare Capacity and Student Screenings in Lai Chau Mountainous Regions

Bach Mai Hospital doctors provided free health checks, screenings, and medication to more than 500 students in Phong Tho commune, Lai Chau province, under the Ministry of Health's Project 1816 framework.

Health Screenings for Students

During the program conducted at Phong Tho Primary and Secondary School, over 500 students underwent internal medicine examinations, cardiovascular screenings, and nutritional evaluations.

Throughout the screening process, certain cardiovascular issues were detected, and doctors provided families with guidance on their children's treatment processes and distributed free medication.

Importance of Access to Mountainous Areas

Direct examinations conducted by doctors from central hospitals help eliminate distance and travel cost barriers for families living in mountainous regions.

These early screenings allow for the timely detection of various health problems and appropriate interventions to be made.

Material and Gift Donations

Pharmacist Nguyen Viet Dung, Deputy Head of the Pharmacy Department at Bach Mai Hospital, emphasized that geographical distance should never be a barrier to accessing healthcare services.

During the visit, two industrial rice cookers and more than 500 gifts were donated to the school students to support both the pupils and teachers.

Technology Transfer and Training

Alongside school health services, experts enhance the capacity of grassroots levels by providing training, professional support, and technology transfer to local medical institutions.

Training sessions organized on topics such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation and anaphylaxis management are tailored to the practical needs of hospitals in Lai Chau.

Cooperation and Evaluation

This visit allowed Bach Mai Hospital and Lai Chau province to review the third year of their comprehensive healthcare development cooperation program for the 2023-2028 period.
