TCL has launched its new kids smartwatch with customizable design features, the TCL Kids Watch K5 model. The device stands out with 10-fold positioning technology, 4G communication support, and parental control features.
Customizable Design and Display Features
Unlike the brand's previous kids smartwatches, the TCL Kids Watch K5 offers customizability with interchangeable bezel and strap options. Released in Sky Blue, Dawn Pink, and Meteor Orange color options, the watch adapts to children's styles with different straps and bezels.
Weighing approximately 50 grams and measuring 14.35 mm in thickness, the device is designed to fit comfortably on children's small wrists. The watch's 1.4-inch display provides a resolution of 240 x 240 pixels, while the IP68 certification offers protection against water splashes, rain, and contact during handwashing.
10-Fold Location Tracking and Communication Capabilities
To facilitate tracking children, the device features 10-fold positioning technology that utilizes GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, Wi-Fi, G-Sensor, and cellular base station data. Thanks to this infrastructure, live location tracking, safe zone definition, find-my-watch mode in case of loss, and emergency SOS notifications can be used.
The 4G connectivity support on the watch enables video calling, VoLTE calling, voice messaging, one-on-one or group chatting, SMS, and photo sharing. The 2 MP camera on the watch is also used for video calls and taking photos.
Secure Digital Environment and School Mode
Lacking social media applications and open internet access, the watch creates a controlled usage environment for children. Parents can manage features such as adding friends, chatting, and the camera via a mobile app, and remotely lock the watch in case of loss.
When School Mode, suitable for use during class hours, is activated, notifications are muted; camera and game functions are turned off, while the emergency SOS call feature remains active. The 600 mAh capacity battery in the watch provides up to 2.2 days of usage and up to 4.8 days of standby time.
