Traditional Felt Art Carried into the Future with a Fashion Show in Afyonkarahisar

Within the framework of the "Anatolians" (Anadoludakiler) Project carried out under the auspices of Emine Erdoğan, the fashion show titled "Anatolians: The Timeless Journey of Felt" was held in Afyonkarahisar, prepared through the labor of women.

The Anatolians project, which carries Anatolia’s deep-rooted production culture into the future through innovation and design, took the stage in Afyonkarahisar with a special collection brought to life by women's labor.
Geographically Indicated Afyon Felt Introduced
In the work carried out under the coordination of the General Directorate of Development Agencies of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, the geographically indicated Afyon Felt appeared before the audience with garments and accessories endowed with design.
Women's Labor and Cooperative Solidarity
Carried out by the Umay Women's Initiative Production and Business Cooperative with the support of the Zafer Development Agency, the project shed light on the transformation of traditional felt art extending to local development.
During the collection preparation process, craftsmanship passed down from generation to generation was brought together with the innovative language of design.
Training and Economic Value Generation
Within the scope of the Anatolians-SOGEP Project, felt training was provided to 15 women, supporting their capacities in the fields of design, branding, sales, and marketing.

Through products developed under the Umay brand, the aim is to reach new markets and create sustainable income opportunities for women in the region.
