Türk Telekom has launched the R&D and Innovation Science Board to focus on future advanced technologies such as 6G, artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, and satellite communications.
Main Objectives of the Board
The R&D and Innovation Science Board, established under the roof of Türk Telekom, aims to create a permanent cooperation ground between academia and the sector. The board aims to increase Turkey's national technological power and effectiveness at global standards.
Leading Scientists in Their Fields
Six scientists who stand out with their international studies in next-generation communication technologies take part in the board. Experts from various universities will contribute in fields such as space communications, next-generation networks, digital twins, and artificial intelligence.
Expertise of the Academic Staff
On the board, Prof. Dr. Elif Uysal from Middle East Technical University will serve in the fields of space communications and the Internet of Things, while Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Arslan from Istanbul Medipol University will conduct studies on next-generation networks.
International Contribution and Other Members
While Prof. Dr. Berk Canberk from Edinburgh Napier University and Istanbul Technical University contributes on digital twins and smart networks, Prof. Dr. Resul Daş from Firat University will support the board in the field of artificial intelligence.
Next-Generation Networks and Communication
While Prof. Dr. Lütfiye Durak Ata from Istanbul Technical University conducts studies in the field of integrated sensing and communication, Prof. Dr. Halim Yanıkömeroğlu from Carleton University in Canada is known for non-terrestrial networks and HAPS subjects.
Working Axes and Focal Points
Conducting its work on four main axes, the board will bring together the perspectives of academia and the sector on the focus of next-generation networks, 6G, artificial intelligence-supported networks, and satellite communications.
In-House Innovation Achievements
Following the introduction of the board, Türk Telekom CEO Ebubekir Şahin rewarded prominent achievements in in-house innovation and R&D studies and made evaluations regarding the improvement of processes.
