Call for the Sliding Scale Fuel System (Eşel Mobil) Against Fuel Price Increases
Emphasizing that rising fuel prices place tradespeople and consumers in a difficult position, it was requested that the sliding scale fuel system be put into effect for a temporary period.
Stating that continuous increases in fuel prices negatively affect the transportation sector and overall economic balances, it was stated that the sliding scale fuel system should be temporarily implemented to relieve citizens and tradespeople.
Grievances Experienced by Tradespeople and Citizens
It was stated that the rise in fuel prices directly affects businesses operating in the transportation sector, especially taxi, minibus, and truck tradespeople. Stating that increasing costs are also reflected in the prices of transported goods, it was noted that this situation victimizes both citizens and tradespeople.
Transportation Costs and Inflationary Pressure
It was voiced that fuel hikes affect not only transportation expenses but also the prices of numerous goods and services through transportation costs, making the fight against inflation difficult. Information was shared that expectations have formed for new price increases in products such as pulses in the upcoming period.
Temporary Sliding Scale Fuel System Proposal
It was argued that the sliding scale fuel system should be brought back to the agenda in order to reduce the impact of fuel price increases on citizens. It was emphasized that price hikes in oil should not be reflected in prices for at least a temporary period until citizens find relief.
Broad-Based Cost Increases
It was conveyed that the rise in transport and shipping costs is felt in a wide area ranging from public transport fares to truck transport, from shuttle services to product prices in markets. Furthermore, it was stated that cost increases are also observed in sectors where petroleum products are used, such as detergents and cosmetics.
