Start of the Race and the First Kilometre
In the race held on a cool afternoon, Megan Keith of Great Britain surged to the front at the start, while Ethiopian athlete Likina Amebaw took the lead shortly after.
Leadership Battle and Separation
Passing the first kilometre in just over three minutes, the leading group increased their pace to reach the two-kilometre mark in approximately 5:58, with Amebaw taking over the lead.
3 Kilometres and the Decisive Moment
As the three-kilometre mark was passed in under nine minutes, athletes who could not keep up with the pace fell behind, and Amebaw and Caroline Gitonga began running side by side.
Critical Attack and the Finish Line
Easily breaking away from her rival after passing the four-kilometre mark, Likina Amebaw widened the gap on the home straight and crossed the finish line first in 14:41.
Podium Standings
Caroline Gitonga of Kenya finished the race in second place with 14:50... wait, 14:48, while Rose Davies of Australia claimed the bronze medal with a time of 14:50, setting an Oceania record.
