An official signing ceremony was held at NASA headquarters in the US capital of Washington.
Officials Attending the Ceremony
Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır and Turkey Space Agency President Yusuf Kıraç attended the signing ceremony on behalf of Turkey.
The US side was represented by NASA Director Jared Isaacman, and Turkish astronaut Alper Gezeravci was also present at the ceremony.
Adopted Principles and Objectives
With the agreement, Turkey has adopted the principles of transparency, data sharing, and interoperability in Moon, Mars, and deep space exploration.
Future Space Plans
Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır stated that Turkey has entered a new era in its space journey.
Minister Kacır announced that they aim to send a spacecraft with a hybrid engine to the Moon in the first months of 2027.
Spaceport Investment in Somalia
Stating that Turkey has started the construction of a spaceport in Somalia, officials drew attention to the importance of this investment.
It was emphasized that this investment will enable independent steps to be taken in the space economy.
