During a meeting held in Ca Mau, the plan to restructure the Ministry of Science and Technology and its affiliated public service units was discussed. With the new arrangement, three units are being consolidated under the umbrella of an Innovation Center, while concrete efficiency and double-digit growth targets were emphasized throughout the process.

Restructuring Plan and New Structure

The Center for Science and Technology Applications, the Digital Transformation Center, and the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center under the Ministry of Science and Technology are being consolidated under a single roof.

The newly established Innovation Center will operate with a governance structure consisting of a Board of Management and six specialized departments.

Reduction in the Number of Managers and Departments

Thanks to the planned new regulations, a forty percent reduction in the number of specialized departments is anticipated.

Additionally, a sixty-six percent drop is expected in manager positions, and a twenty-five percent decrease in deputy manager positions.

Scope of Responsibilities of the Innovation Center

The new center will carry out research and professional service activities aimed at the application of scientific and technological developments.

Furthermore, it will provide information and statistics on innovation and digital transformation to serve state governance.

Assessments by Officials and Goals

Speaking at the meeting, Provincial People's Committee Chairman Lu Quang Ngoi stated that the primary objective of the restructuring is tangible efficiency.

Lu Quang Ngoi expressed that the process must strictly not disrupt ongoing science and technology activities and should contribute to the region's economic growth.
