These statements came following an indictment prepared by the US Department of Justice alleging that five individuals working on behalf of a network linked to the Kremlin planned attacks in various countries, including the US.
The indictment in question specifically targeted Russian opposition figures and individuals who left the country.
Increase in Protection Measures
According to a report by the Spanish newspaper El Mundo, Kasparov and another Russian opposition figure, Ilya Ponomarev, were warned by US authorities against these plots during the summer.
Based on sources close to Kasparov, the report stated that the opposition figure was placed under heightened protection during the summer for the first time since moving to the US.
