Vietnam Aims to Achieve Strategic Technology Products in 2026
Vietnam aims to achieve concrete results by the end of the year by accelerating projects in priority areas such as autonomous robots and artificial intelligence.
Within the scope of the strategic technology initiative led by the Ministry of Science and Technology, financing mechanisms and projects for products such as autonomous mobile robots, artificial intelligence cameras, and UAVs are being accelerated.
Strategic Technology List and Decrees
The List of Strategic Technologies and the List of Strategic Technology Products created in accordance with Decision No. 21/2026/QD-TTg consist of 10 strategic technology groups and 30 strategic technology products covering digital technology, robotics and automation, semiconductor chips, and artificial intelligence.
Ministries and Division of Responsibilities
With Decision No. 808/QD-TTg issued by the Prime Minister on May 6, 2026, a total of 20 science, technology, and innovation tasks were assigned to 10 ministries and agencies.
Expected Initial Results and Projects
Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui Hoang Phuong stated that artificial intelligence cameras, autonomous mobile robots, unmanned aerial vehicles, and smart education platforms could yield initial results in 2026.
As of August 24, 2026, a total of 28 project proposals had been received from 10 ministries and agencies, with an estimated budget of approximately 5,300 billion VND. It was stated that 9 of these projects have been approved, while 13 projects are in the dossier completion stage.
Government Directives and Applications
Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung requested the acceleration of efforts for the development of strategic technology products by the end of 2026 during a meeting held on August 26, 2026.
The Nafosted Foundation announced the first task regarding autonomous mobile robot technology for urban environmental cleaning on August 31, 2026, and stated that applications will be accepted between September 3, 2026, and September 14, 2026.
