Vietnam Makes Significant Progress in Science and Technology
While the number of science and technology enterprises in Vietnam rose to 968, 2,647 international publications were made in the Scopus database in the last month, and a major increase in digital technology sector revenues was projected.
The Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam shared the country's current data in the fields of science, technology, and digital transformation at its regular press conference in August 2026. According to the released data, while the number of science and technology enterprises in the country reached 968, significant steps were also taken in digitalization and international collaborations.
Scientific Publications and Number of Enterprises
According to data from Vietnam's Ministry of Science and Technology, 2,647 international publications were recorded in the Scopus database in the country between July 15 and August 14, 2026.
As of the end of August 2026, the number of science and technology enterprises operating in the country reached 968, while the number of science and technology exchange platforms was recorded as 20.
Digital Transformation and Infrastructure Achievements
Significant progress was also made in the country's digital infrastructure efforts. The National Data Exchange Platform (NDXP) reached a total transaction volume of 4.7 billion as of August 15, 2026.
The IPv6 adoption rate in Vietnam rose to 66 percent, ranking second in Southeast Asia and seventh globally.
Economic Indicators and Artificial Intelligence Steps
The revenues of the digital technology sector in the August 2026 period are estimated to reach 680,586 billion VND, with an export turnover of 22.4 billion USD.
In addition, the Ministry of Science and Technology published the official decision on the establishment of the Vietnam Global Network of AI Experts on August 2.
International Collaborations
As part of global partnerships, the Vietnam-Australia TechConnect 2026 Forum was held at the University of Technology Sydney, and a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of digital economy was signed with Australia.
Vietnam also held high-level contacts with Singapore to further develop cooperation in the fields of science, technology, and innovation.
