Vietnam National University of Forestry Connects Scientific Research with Practical Needs
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Huy, President of the Vietnam National University of Forestry, announced the school's strategic goals of connecting scientific research with practical needs and technology transfer.
The Vietnam National University of Forestry is implementing new strategies and goals to connect scientific research with practical needs, products, and technology transfer. President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Huy shared the university's future plans.
National Resolutions and New Strategies
Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW identifies science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation as key driving forces for national development. Accordingly, the university is implementing various solutions to put research results into practice.
Mindset Shift and Objectives
President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Huy stated that the school is undergoing a strong shift from a mindset primarily focused on fulfilling tasks to one aimed at creating practical value. The Board of Management has prepared the plan for the 2026-2030 period.
Targets Set for 2030
The university aims to increase Scopus and WoS publications by 12 to 15 percent annually by 2030. In addition, it is planned to establish 8 to 10 interdisciplinary research groups.
Technology Transfer and Scientific Tasks
It is aimed to have at least 20 useful solutions, technical improvements, plant varieties, or intellectual property assets accepted. Science and technology tasks commissioned by businesses and local authorities will be implemented.
Digital Transformation Efforts
The university carries out digital transformation in two directions and is evolving into a data-driven institution. 100 percent of administrative documents are digitized and processed electronically.
Forestry 4.0 and Artificial Intelligence Solutions
In the field of research, the Forestry 4.0 platform has been developed to collect forestry data. Furthermore, LiDAR, UAV, WebGIS, and artificial intelligence solutions are utilized to monitor forest resources and fires.
