Vietnam Red Data Book Series Wins First Place at Science and Technology Book Award

Published by the Natural Sciences and Technology Publishing House, the two-volume Vietnam Red Data Book series was awarded the top prize at a ceremony in Hanoi.

Within the scope of the 2026 Science, Technology, Innovation, and Digital Transformation Book Awards, the two-volume Vietnam Red Data Book series published by the Natural Sciences and Technology Publishing House won the first-place award in the science and technology category.

Award Ceremony and Competition Details

Organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology at the National Convention Center in Hanoi, the ceremony was held as part of the 2026 National Innovation Day. Out of a total of 329 entries submitted to the competition, the jury deemed only 10 works worthy of awards instead of the planned 22.

Vietnam Red Data Book Series and Authors

The work provides comprehensive information on rare and endangered animal, plant, and fungi species in Vietnam. The first volume on animals was edited by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Truong, while the second volume on plants and fungi was jointly prepared by expert names.

Award Amount and Additional Donations

While the first-place prize was valued at 30 million VND, with an additional donation of 70 million VND made by Minister of Science and Technology Vu Hai Quan, the total award amount rose to the level of 100 million VND.

Awards in Other Categories

A total of 9 printed works and 1 e-book received awards at the ceremony. Three second-place, three third-place, and three encouragement awards found their owners, while a work in the field of artificial intelligence became this year's sole e-book award-winning study.
