Following violent student protests organized in France over educational conditions and teacher shortages, about five hundred high schools are expected to remain closed or partially closed on Monday.

Protest Measure in French Schools

Classes were suspended in numerous schools across France following nationwide student protests and clashes with police. Classroom conditions, teacher shortages, and the state of the buildings were protested.

Education Minister Edouard Geffray announced that due to the incidents, around five hundred high schools will remain completely or partially closed on Monday.

Damage and Detentions During Incidents

It was stated that more than twenty-four schools were burned or looted during the protests, and at least five thousand people, mostly youths, were detained.

As a result of the tensions and clashes, seventy-eight teachers and educational staff were reported injured.

New Support from Germany to Ukraine

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz made an unannounced visit to the Ukrainian capital of Kiev, committing over one and a half billion dollars in new aid.

It was stated that 1.1 billion dollars of the announced aid package consists of military support, long-range offensive weapons, and unmanned aerial vehicles.

Attack During the Visit to Kiev

At the moment the German Chancellor arrived in Kiev, a Russian drone hit the Northern Bridge over the Dnieper River.

This attack coincided with the period when the foreign leader set foot in the city, once again laying bare the security risks in the region.
