Village School Students Meet Science and Technology in Diyarbakır
Thanks to a project implemented in Diyarbakır, students in rural neighborhoods discovered science through experimental activities.
Prepared by the Diyarbakır Provincial Directorate of National Education with the support of TÜBİTAK, the "That Village is Our Science Village" project was launched with a program held in Gömmetaş Neighborhood, attached to the Bağlar district.
Purpose and Scope of the Project
Within the scope of the project, which aims to bring children in village schools together with science and technology, science, design, and discovery-based activities will be carried out in different rural neighborhoods throughout the year.
At the opening program held at Gömmetaş Primary and Secondary School, the school yard was virtually transformed into a science center, and students participated in the experimental studies at the stands.
Interinstitutional Cooperation
The project will be carried out in a coordinated manner with the contributions of various stakeholder institutions, notably Dicle University, the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, and Yeşilay.
Evaluations by Officials
Provincial Director of National Education Salih Sadoğlu stated that the project offers significant opportunities for students in rural regions and emphasized that they will continue to bring village children together with science.
Students' Experiences
While the students participating in the science activities had an unforgettable day, some found the opportunity to observe the Sun with a telescope for the first time and performed various experiments.
