Village School Students Meet STEAM Workshops in Anamur
Within the scope of the TÜBİTAK 4009 project implemented in Anamur, Mersin, village school students received hands-on training in science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics workshops.
The project titled "Interdisciplinary Practices in the Village Ecosystem: Stepping into the Future with STEAM", implemented with TÜBİTAK 4009 support at Köprübaşı Secondary School in Anamur district of Mersin, brought village school students together with scientific activities. During the two-day program, students experienced hands-on learning in renewable energy, robotics, and nature-based workshops.
TÜBİTAK-Supported STEAM Project Commenced
Carried out under the coordination of the Mersin Provincial Directorate of National Education, the TÜBİTAK 4009 project was hosted by Anamur Köprübaşı Secondary School between September 28-29, 2026. Aiming to increase access of students in village schools to scientific activities, the project brought together nature-integrated practices.
Protocol Members Examined Students' Work
The events were attended by Anamur District Governor Kemal Duru, Mersin Provincial Deputy Director of National Education Baykal Başdemir, and Anamur Mayor Durmuş Deniz, along with numerous protocol members. Visitors toured the workshops to examine the students' work firsthand and received information from the project team.
Solar-Powered Vehicles and Water Rockets Designed
Students took part in various workshops such as renewable energy sources, 3D printers, water rockets, techno-nature fruit orchestra, and car manufacturing from tree branches. Vehicle designs powered by solar and wind energy enabled students to combine scientific knowledge with experimentation processes.
Robot TORİ Became the Focus of Attention for Students
Robot TORİ, participating in the event from Toros University, was met with intense interest by the students. Interacting with the children in the event area, the robot provided participants with the opportunity to observe robotic technologies closely.
Support for Education from Local Stakeholders
Following the completion of the workshops, certificates were presented to the participants. While Dr. Otto Bedding Enterprise and the Association of Anamur Natives supported the project with gifts, the acquired experiences are aimed to be expanded to different village schools.
