During the council meeting, the latest situation in the field regarding the organization laying down its arms, the withdrawal stages, and the ongoing efforts are being addressed comprehensively.

Law No. 7595

The meeting holds great importance in terms of the implementation of Law No. 7595 on the Strengthening of National Solidarity and Social Integration, which entered into force on August 18.

The law stipulates that the organization's cessation of its de facto existence by laying down its arms must be detected by security institutions, confirmed by an NSC decision, and published in the Official Gazette.

Developments in the Field

In line with the findings of security units in the field, the process of the organization's withdrawal from areas in Iraq, particularly around Sinjar, is being evaluated.

Accordingly, contacts conducted with the central government of Iraq and the Iraqi Kurdistan Region are also among the topics discussed at the meeting.

Paving the Way for the Legal Process

Following the assessment to be made by the NSC and the confirmation decision to be given, the mechanisms in Law No. 7595 will be paved for implementation.

With the publication of the decision in the Official Gazette, the sentence postponement regulations and the six-month application period will officially begin.

Regional Developments

The meeting also discusses the Russia-Ukraine war affecting Turkey's security, Black Sea navigation safety, and developments in the Middle East.

Negotiations between the US and Iran, the situation in Yemen, and maritime security in the Bab el-Mandeb are among the other regional topics addressed by the council.
