Turkey ranks first in Europe in earthquake monitoring capacity

Thanks to a total of 1,104 earthquake monitoring stations established across Turkey, the country has reached the highest earthquake observation network capacity in Europe.

The Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency has reached a significant capacity with the increase in the number of earthquake monitoring stations across the country. According to the information shared by the head of the institution, the number of stations rose to the level of 1,104.

With this figure reached, Turkey has become the country with the highest earthquake observation network capacity across Europe. The statement drew attention to the importance of the efforts to expand the network.

International Scientists Met in Istanbul

Hosted by Istanbul, the 40th General Assembly of the European Seismological Commission and the ESC2026 European Seismology Congress brought together experts from different countries of the world. Numerous scientific papers are being presented at the congress.
