Turkey has dispatched four firefighting planes to the region to support ongoing efforts to combat wildfires in France and Spain.

Aerial Intervention Support for Fires in Europe

Turkey sent four firefighting planes to the affected regions today to support the fight against ongoing wildfires in France and Spain.

Assigned within the framework of the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism, two of these aircraft will take part in firefighting operations in France and two in Spain.

International Coordination and Message of Thanks

The planes sent to the countries battling severe fires will directly contribute to emergency response efforts carried out across Europe.

In a statement, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen expressed her satisfaction and gratitude for this vital support provided by Turkey.

Turkey has continued to take part in the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism as a participating state since 2016.
