Turkey-Specific Application Channel for Removing Personal Data on Google
The Personal Data Protection Authority announced that Google has launched a Turkey-specific application method for unwanted historical personal data appearing in search engines.
Prof. Dr. Faruk Bilir, President of the Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK), announced that Google has opened a new application box specific to Turkey in order to block the visibility of distressing content, including accurate historical information, on search engines.

Mandatory Response Within 30 Days
Within the scope of the established special application mechanism, it was stated that the company is obliged to provide information regarding the transmitted requests within thirty days. It is reported that applications will be concluded positively or negatively during this process.
Historical Information Causes Distress
It was stated that the visibility of information dating back fifteen to forty years in searches made with name and surname on digital platforms and search engines disturbs individuals. Even this old data, which is accurate and lawful, can be the subject of an application.
Right to Apply to the Authority
It was conveyed that in the event of receiving a negative response as a result of the applications to be made to Google, the relevant individuals have the opportunity to apply to the Personal Data Protection Authority.
