Turkey's population future and declining fertility rates are being discussed

Demographic Data and Fertility Rate
According to official data shared by Gülgün Çolakoğlu, 895,374 babies were born in Turkey in 2025, and the total fertility rate declined to the level of 1.42.
Elderly and Child Population Ratios
In the statement, it was expressed that the number of citizens aged 65 and over reached 9 million 583 thousand, the elderly population ratio was 11.1 percent, and the child population ratio was 20.4 percent.
Economic Uncertainties and Family Planning
Stating that the population issue cannot be explained solely by birth rates, Çolakoğlu noted that high housing costs, the cost of living, and income uncertainty negatively affect decisions to start a family.
Care Services and Social Policies
It was argued that nursery services should be expanded and social state policies should be strengthened so that the burden of childcare does not remain solely on the shoulders of women.
