Voice Agent Features Added to ChatGPT Mobile App
OpenAI has rolled out voice agent features for the ChatGPT mobile app. Plus and Pro subscribers will be able to initiate workflows such as drafting documents and summarizing emails using voice commands from their phones.
Artificial intelligence company OpenAI announced that it is bringing voice-based agent features to the ChatGPT mobile app. With the new update, Plus and Pro users will be able to directly manage various complex workflows by giving voice commands from their mobile devices.
New Workflows for Plus and Pro Subscribers
With the new feature, Plus and Pro subscribers will be able to perform actions such as creating documents, drafting emails, or summarizing Slack messages using the Work tab on their mobile devices.
Additionally, these subscribers will have the opportunity to build websites, prepare presentations, use the cloud browser, and access other areas like finance through ChatGPT.
Free Users and Desktop Integration
Free and Go tier users, on the other hand, will be able to work with plugins and connected apps. OpenAI stated that voice chats will offer richer text outputs and that users will be able to easily switch between text and voice.
Users will be able to continue a chat or task started on mobile while on the go later in the desktop app.
Industry Developments and Desktop Background
OpenAI, which introduced its new chat model called GPT-Live in July, had integrated this model into the desktop app, allowing users to perform tasks in the Work and Codex tabs using their voices. The mobile update brings similar capabilities to phones.
Recently, Anthropic has also simplified the transition between mobile and desktop by combining its Cowork and Chat interfaces, whereas OpenAI continues to keep chat and workspaces separate.
