Warning on Shoe Arrangement
The Kanazawa City Fire Department has warned citizens not to collect or change the position of shoes taken off by emergency response teams entering homes.
The Importance of Seconds
Firefighter Daisuke Yamashita stated that shoes are positioned according to the roles of the team members and that changing their locations can delay the patient's transport to the hospital by approximately 30 seconds.
This situation can make it difficult to intervene with the patient and keep the oxygen mask in place, especially during the process of carrying a stretcher.
Alternative Ways to Help
While the crews noted that they appreciate the well-meaning approach, they emphasized that in emergencies, preparing the patient's ID card or My Number card instead would be far more useful.
