At least 12 people lost their lives and 15 others were injured when a multi-story damaged building sheltering displaced persons due to the war collapsed in Gaza City.

Building Collapse in Gaza

The multi-story building, which had been previously damaged in the war and was housing about six displaced families, collapsed on Wednesday morning. According to Al-Shifa Hospital data, 12 people, including at least four children, lost their lives.

Civil defense teams are conducting search and rescue operations with heavy machinery to rescue dozens of people trapped under the rubble.

Building Safety and Risks

In Gaza, where most buildings have been damaged or destroyed, the collapse of structures continues to pose a major danger, especially during adverse weather conditions. Families returning to the area were moving back into damaged buildings.

Saudi Arabia's Drone Statement

Saudi military spokesperson Brigadier General Turki al-Malki announced on Tuesday evening that the country's air defense systems downed a drone heading toward Mecca. It was emphasized that the security of the holy city is a red line.

Houthi Claims and Reactions

While the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen denied claims that they targeted Mecca, the incident led to various condemnations across the Islamic world, including from Pakistan and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.
