Canada's Cameco Corporation has signed a new exclusive offtake agreement to purchase all future production from GLE's planned Paducah Laser Enrichment Facility.
Technology and Corporate Partnership
Silex Systems Limited announced the signing of this agreement between Cameco and Global Laser Enrichment, the exclusive licensee of the SILEX laser enrichment technology. GLE was established in 2007 to develop and commercialize laser-based uranium enrichment technology in the United States. Silex Systems holds a 51 percent stake in the company, while Cameco owns 49 percent.
Executive Statements and Future Prospects
Silex CEO and Managing Director Michael Goldsworthy stated that this agreement provides security for all GLE nuclear fuel products, including natural uranium hexafluoride and enriched uranium products. The agreement also offers a pricing guarantee equivalent to Cameco's average realization.
Investment Decision and Licensing Process
The agreement forms a fundamental commercial basis to support the future final investment decision for the Paducah Laser Enrichment Facility. GLE aims to obtain a license for the facility by early 2027.
