In-flight attack on FlyDubai pilot puts aviation security measures under fresh scrutiny

A knife attack by a co-pilot on the captain pilot aboard a FlyDubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv has prompted a fresh review of international aviation security measures.

Attack During Flight

Dangerous moments occurred on FlyDubai flight FZ1073, which was traveling from Dubai Airport toward Tel Aviv.

There were eight crew members and a total of 182 passengers on board the aircraft.

Cockpit Struggle and Passenger Intervention

Allegedly, the co-pilot launched a knife attack against the captain pilot inside the cockpit during the flight.

Thanks to the injured captain pilot's resistance and opening of the cockpit door, passengers intervened to subdue the suspect.

Emergency Landing in Saudi Arabia

Other crew members took over the controls, ensuring the aircraft made a safe emergency landing in Saudi Arabia.

As a result of the incident, the passengers and crew on board narrowly escaped major danger.

International Investigation and Security Measures

Following the incident, Saudi, UAE, and Israeli authorities launched a joint investigation, with the US and Oman also supporting the process.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that security measures would be increased on flights arriving in the country.
