Donald Trump calls on Ukraine to halt strikes on Russia's diesel fuel

Diesel Prices and Global Crisis

U.S. President Donald Trump made the remarks after average U.S. diesel prices surpassed $6 a gallon on Friday, hitting a record. Months of long-range strikes by Ukraine have led to fuel rationing in Russia and Moscow's ban on diesel exports in July.

Open Call from Trump to Zelenskyy

Speaking to reporters during the Irish Open golf tournament, Donald Trump stated that they had discussed this issue with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Trump emphasized that diesel fuel facilities in Russia should not be targeted and that there are plenty of other targets.

International Energy Agency Report

A report released Friday by the International Energy Agency stated that net exports of diesel and kerosene from Gulf countries following the war with Iran have fallen well below February levels. It was noted that intensifying attacks by Ukraine have further compounded these global losses.

Overnight Mutual Attacks

Large-scale drone attacks were carried out overnight between Russia and Ukraine. Two people were killed and 14 others were injured at an oil hub in Russia's Tatarstan region, while the Russian defense ministry reported that hundreds of drones had been shot down.

Situation in Odesa and Border Regions

Ukrainian authorities reported that Russian drones targeted the Black Sea port of Odesa and that a fire broke out near a crossing point on the Polish border. The Ukrainian air force announced that hundreds of attacks took place overnight and that air defense systems neutralized a large portion of them.
