Background and Allegations of the Murder

Prosecutors argued that Davis, the former leader of the South Side Compton Crips street gang, did not fire the shots himself, but ordered the attack and provided the weapon.

In a 2008 police interview played during the trial, Davis had stated that he was in the vehicle from which the bullets were fired, but that he did not pull the trigger himself.
