Ed Sheeran: Removing Macklemore from the Tour Was Not My Decision
Famous singer Ed Sheeran stated that the decision to remove rapper Macklemore from the US tour was not his and was made by the organizing company.
Ed Sheeran released a lengthy statement regarding rapper Macklemore, who was dropped from the US tour following pro-Palestinian remarks at his New Jersey concerts.
The Process of Removal from the Tour
In a lengthy statement on his social media account, Ed Sheeran stated that the removal of Benjamin Haggerty, known as Macklemore, from the current US tour was not his decision.
The American rapper had been dropped from the tour lineup after making pro-Palestinian remarks at two concerts in New Jersey.
Backlash and Pressures
While Macklemore's remarks during the concert drew backlash from Jewish groups, venue authorities also exerted pressure on the tour organizers.
Ed Sheeran stated that he tried to build a bridge between both sides, but since the contract was with the organizing company, the decision was made by the Messina Touring Group.
Statements from the Organizer and Stadium Owner
Macklemore later announced that he was dropped from the tour and claimed that the boycott was organized by Gillette Stadium owner Robert Kraft.
Robert Kraft confirmed this decision, claiming that the rapper had made antisemitic remarks.
The Messina Touring Group stated that the venues did not allow Macklemore to perform and that this endangered the entire tour.
