F-4 Phantom aircraft crashes at air show in Greece
A military jet crashed and caused a fire during an event held at Tanagra Air Base near Athens.
During an annual air show held near the Greek capital of Athens, a Hellenic Air Force F-4 Phantom fighter jet crashed, and a fire broke out in the area.
Accident at the Air Show
The two-seat fighter jet, which crashed during the Athens Flying Week events at Tanagra Air Base north of Athens, was performing low-altitude maneuvers in front of thousands of spectators.
Fire and Response Efforts
As a result of the jet's crash, a fire broke out in the area and dense black smoke rose into the sky. The resulting fire made the work of rescue teams more difficult.
Intervention by Teams
In order to bring the fire in the region under control, numerous firefighters along with water-dropping airplanes and helicopters were dispatched to carry out extinguishing operations.
