Filmekimi meets moviegoers in four cities for its 25th anniversary
Turning into a quarter-century-old tradition, the festival will screen award-winning productions of world cinema in four different cities this year, including Mersin for the first time.
Organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts with the sponsorship of Paribu, Filmekimi is bringing award-winning and eagerly awaited masterpieces of world cinema to audiences in Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, and for the first time Mersin, as it celebrates its 25th anniversary.
Festival City Schedule and Dates
Turned into a quarter-century-old tradition by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts with the sponsorship of Paribu, Filmekimi is carrying award-winning masterpieces of world cinema to four different cities.
The festival will fill movie theaters in Istanbul from October 9 to 18, take place in Ankara from October 15 to 18, and be held in Izmir and, for the first time, Mersin from October 22 to 25.
Press Conference and Opening Screening
The festival's press conference was held on the evening of Tuesday, October 6 at Paribu Art, and Istanbul Film Festival Director Kerem Ayan shared the details of the program.
Paribu Art Director Emrah Yamaç emphasized the institution's support for the festival, and following the gathering, Werner Herzog's film made its Turkey premiere.
Rich and Award-Winning Film Selection
The selection features productions by many master names such as Pedro Almodóvar, Asghar Farhadi, James Gray, László Nemes, Na Hong-jin, Gregg Araki, and Anton Corbijn.
In addition, international productions returning with awards from the Cannes and Venice film festivals are presented to the appreciation of cinephiles.
