Florida State University International Programs continues its long-standing history in global education and international student success through its centers in London, Florence, Valencia, and Panama.
Global Education Rankings
Florida State University ranks 1st among public universities and 4th overall in the Open Doors 2025 Report prepared by the Institute for International Education for long-term study abroad enrollment.
In the 2023-2024 academic year, a total of 2,702 students studied abroad, achieving 10th place among public universities and 12th place overall.
International Study Centers
The university's international programs feature study centers in London, United Kingdom; Florence, Italy; and Valencia, Spain. Additionally, it has a campus in the Republic of Panama and faculty-led programs in many different locations.
First-Year Abroad Programs
Incoming students have the opportunity to spend their first semester or first year at the Florence, London, Valencia, or Panama campus centers. The First Year Abroad and First Semester Abroad programs celebrated their 20th anniversary with approximately 3,000 graduates.
Establishment of the Panama Campus
The presence in Panama began in 1957 under an agreement with the U.S. Department of Defense to provide education to military personnel and their families. Relocated to the City of Knowledge area in 2009, the campus serves approximately 500 students from more than thirty countries.
Florence Study Center
Established in 1966, the Florence center earned the title of 'Mud Angels' after students and faculty participated in relief efforts following the flooding of the Arno River. The center relocated to the Palazzo Bagnesi Falconeri building in 2021 and hosts 600 students annually.
London and Valencia Centers
The London study center process, which began in 1971, expanded with a building in the Bloomsbury district. The Spain program started in Madrid, moved to Valencia in 2001, and celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022.
