Global Temperatures Hit Record Highs as El Nino Strengthens

According to a newly published report, global temperatures have once again reached record levels with the strengthening of El Nino conditions in the Pacific Ocean, making last August the hottest August ever recorded.

August Breaks the Record

Based on data analyzed by the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S), the planet's average surface air temperature was measured at 62.5 degrees Fahrenheit, recording last month as the warmest August globally.

Above Pre-Industrial Average

Last month rose 1.65 degrees above the 1850-1900 pre-industrial average, marking the first month since November 2025 with more than 1.5 degrees of warming and drawing attention to the Paris Agreement limit.

Ocean and Summer Temperatures

According to a report by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) of the United States, the June-August period was recorded as the hottest summer, while sea surface temperature also reached a record high of 69.98 degrees Fahrenheit.

Global Warming and El Nino Impact

Climate scientists state that record temperatures are common during El Nino years, but this situation combines with the long-term global warming trend triggered by human-induced greenhouse gas emissions.
