Guinness record broken in Afyonkarahisar with flavors from 81 provinces
The massive table set up within the scope of the international festival wrote its name into the record books with a length exceeding 247 meters.
Within the scope of the 8th International Gastro Afyon Tourism and Flavors Festival held in Afyonkarahisar, the Largest Anatolian Table, prepared with geographically indicated dishes from 81 provinces, entered the Guinness World Records book.
Festival and Giant Table
The 8th International Gastro Afyon Tourism and Flavors Festival started with great enthusiasm in Afyonkarahisar, and the giant table set up in the area at the motorsport center drew attention.
The Largest Anatolian Table, featuring geographically indicated flavors belonging to Turkey's 81 provinces, officially succeeded in entering the Guinness World Records book.
Opening Speeches by the Protocol
Afyonkarahisar Governor Naci Aktaş emphasized in his opening speech that their main objectives are to protect, develop, and transform the city's cuisine into an economic value.
Mayor Burcu Köksal stated that the Gastro Afyon event serves as a very powerful showcase opening the rich Anatolian cuisine to the entire world.
Record Registration Process
Guinness World Records Turkey Judge and Representative Şeyda Subaşı Gemici shared the details of the record with the public and explained the registration process.
The record held by Russia since 2015 was surpassed through a joint effort.
New Record Length
The largest table record, previously held by Russia since 2015 with a length of 200 meters and 42 centimeters, was officially renewed.
As a result of the joint work of the Governor's Office, the Municipality, and the Professional Chefs Association, the table length was increased to 247 meters and 68 centimeters, breaking the record.
Presentation of Certificate and Visits to Stands
The record registration certificate was ceremoniously handed over to Afyonkarahisar Mayor Burcu Köksal by Guinness official Şeyda Subaşı Gemici.
Following the ceremony, the protocol delegation cut the opening ribbon of the Anatolians Afyon Market and visited the stands one by one.
Local Refreshments
Immediately after the opening and registration ceremonies, participants who filled the festival area were served various local delicacies.
Visitors found the opportunity to examine the giant table set up and experienced flavors coming from all four corners of Turkey.
