The Saudi Civil Defense Authority issued an air threat warning in Mecca, which holds the status of a holy city and is located on the country's western coast, as well as in the Jeddah and Taif regions. According to official statements, Mecca witnessed this type of air raid alarm for the first time in its history.

This unprecedented state of alert was triggered following consecutive attacks targeting the kingdom in recent days by the Iran-backed Houthis. After the warnings, which remained in effect for a short time, Civil Defense announced that the danger in the city of Mecca had passed.

Flights and Reciprocal Moves

According to information reflected in the Israeli press, air traffic arriving at Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Medina was also temporarily suspended due to the air threats.

It drew attention that these warnings were issued one day after the attacks organized by the Houthis using ballistic missiles and drones from Yemen, which resulted in 13 injuries on Saudi Arabian soil. On the other hand, it was reported that the Saudi-backed internationally recognized Yemeni government and Saudi forces struck targets near the city of Taiz in Yemen.

Rejection of Intervention Request from the US

While regional tensions continue, US President Donald Trump turned down a request from the Saudi crown prince to intervene in the war.

In his statement, Trump noted that the Houthis also requested that Washington not get involved in this situation, drawing attention to the diplomatic balances between the parties.
