Indian Pharmaceutical Plant in Ukraine Targeted in Russian Drone Attack
The attack on the facility in Sumy resulted in major material damage, as well as casualties and injuries.
A large pharmaceutical plant belonging to the Indian-origin Kusum group in Sumy, Ukraine, was targeted by Russian drone attacks. One person lost their life and numerous people were injured in the incident, while the main structure of the plant was largely destroyed.
Location and History of the Plant
The Kusum group, managed by Indian citizen Rajeev Gupta, was founded in 1994 and began production by opening a factory in Sumy in 2009.
The facility in question had continued its operations throughout the ongoing war, but suffered heavy damage in the recent attacks.
Damage Assessment and Officials' Statements
It is estimated that the material damage caused to the facility as a result of the attacks amounts to at least around 400 crore rupees.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy strongly condemned the attacks in a statement on his social media account.
Overnight Attacks
In his statement, Zelenskyy reported that Russia targeted the Pivnichnyi Bridge in Kyiv, pharmacy warehouses in Sumy, and a communication facility in Dnipro.
It was stated that a total of 135 attack drones were launched across Ukraine throughout the night, with more than 50 of them being jet-powered.
Diplomatic Contacts and Military Developments
While it was noted that German Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz visited Kyiv, it was recorded that important agreements were being prepared between the two countries.
On the other hand, Ukrainian authorities publicly announced that the domestically produced FP-7 ballistic missile was used in combat for the first time this week.
