On a FlyDubai flight operating between Dubai and Tel Aviv, captain pilot Smit Machchhar was injured after being attacked by his co-pilot. The experienced pilot stated that during the attack, he felt the aircraft go into a descent.

The Captain Pilot's Struggle

Stating that he has been flying for seventeen years and has been a captain for eleven years, Machchhar expressed that even with his eyes closed, he would know what was happening on the plane. He noted that as he lay on the floor, he felt the aircraft plunging rapidly and knew this would be his final move.

Opening the Cockpit Door

Thinking that while fighting for his own life he could not let so many people die, Machchhar used his remaining strength to manage to open the cockpit door. This allowed passengers to enter and neutralize the attacker, and he emphasized that everyone played an equally important role in the incident.
