In a separate incident on Wednesday, the co-pilot of a FlyDubai aircraft traveling from the United Arab Emirates to Israel stabbed the captain. The attacker, who attempted to bring down the plane carrying approximately 170 passengers, was subdued by passengers and crew.
The aircraft made a safe emergency landing in Saudi Arabia. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the attacker was an Omani national.
