Iran Holds Largest Government-Backed Rally Since War Began

Hundreds of thousands of people gathered in Iran's capital, Tehran, on Friday to participate in the largest government-backed rally and military parade since the war began, putting on a display of solidarity and defiance.

Massive Rally in Tehran

Hundreds of thousands of people in Iran's capital, Tehran, came together for a state-organized demonstration following months of ongoing war. Participants staged the largest resistance demonstration since the attacks by the US and Israel in February.

Volunteer Military Training Campaign

As part of an effort named Janfaday-e Iran, or those who sacrifice their lives for Iran, it was stated that hundreds of thousands of people volunteered to receive limited military training. Participants marched through the capital's streets wearing combat uniforms.

Military Show of Force and Officials' Statements

Revolutionary Guard commander Hassan Hassanzade told state broadcasters that more than 600,000 people had registered. The new Basij commander, Hossein Taib, stated that the volunteers would be ready for a full-scale defense.

Tanker Attack in the Strait of Hormuz

During the rally, the Iranian administration reported that an attack was carried out against a Togo-flagged oil tanker named Trend, alleging it made an illegal attempt while trying to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations center also confirmed that the tanker was hit and a fire broke out.
