Iranian President and UAE Crown Prince Meet at BRICS Summit

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held a bilateral meeting on the first day of the BRICS summit in New Delhi.

This meeting marks the highest-level face-to-face encounter between the two countries since the outbreak of the conflicts in West Asia.

Search for Regional Stability and Peace

According to a statement from the Abu Dhabi Media Office, the leaders evaluated regional and international issues as well as topics related to de-escalation, ensuring stability, and promoting peace and development.

The meeting took place as part of efforts by both countries to increase diplomatic contacts and seek avenues for dialogue in regional crises.

Call for Restraint in the West Asia Conflict

The meeting occurred immediately after Iran and the UAE, alongside other BRICS countries, signed a joint declaration calling for maximum restraint in the war in West Asia.

The joint BRICS declaration expressed deep concern over the escalation in the Middle East and emphasized the need to protect civilians and sovereignty.

Emphasis on Global Trade and Security

The published joint declaration also drew attention to the importance of securing global trade, supply chains, energy flows, and maritime security.

The 18th BRICS summit, hosted by India in New Delhi, is also attended by the heads of state of Russia, China, and South Africa.
