Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei Allegedly Survived Two US Strikes
An Iranian cleric has claimed that the country's new leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, survived two US strikes, including the initial attack that led to his father's death and the subsequent bombing of the hospital where he was being treated.
Iran's new leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, reportedly survived two separate airstrikes launched during military operations by the US and Israel. Mohsen Heidari Alekasir, a member of the Assembly of Experts, stated that the 56-year-old cleric was pulled out from under the rubble.
Two Separate Attacks and Rescue From the Rubble
Iranian cleric Mohsen Heidari Alekasir recounted the events experienced by Mojtaba Khamenei in an interview with a Qatar-based broadcaster.
Alekasir stated that following the initial strike in which his father lost his life, Khamenei was taken to a hospital, and was subsequently pulled out from under the rubble after the health center where he was receiving treatment was also bombed by US forces.
Targeting of Hospitals and Hiding Location
It was reported that after the strikes targeting the compound where his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and many family members were killed, three different hospitals in the capital Tehran were targeted.
It was conveyed that Mojtaba Khamenei was in the third targeted hospital and, after being rescued, was transferred to an unknown location and kept hidden away from the public eye.
Leadership Process and Voting Details
Alekasir noted that Mojtaba Khamenei was unaware that he was being considered as the new leader until the state television announcement on March 8, and had to assume the office following the decision.
Information was shared that in the vote within the Assembly of Experts, Khamenei received 50 out of 59 votes, while eight members voted for Alireza Arafi and one member abstained.
Conflicting Statements Regarding Health Status
It was noted that conflicting statements were made regarding the condition of Khamenei, who was injured in the airstrike and is believed to be in hiding.
Meanwhile, speaking to Fox News last week, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian claimed that Mojtaba Khamenei is in complete good health.
