Profits of large-scale industrial companies in China rose in August
The profitability of industrial enterprises with an annual turnover above a certain threshold in China increased in August and in the first eight months of the year.
According to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics of China, profits of large-scale industrial companies operating in the country recorded an annual increase of 4.2 percent in August.
August and Eight-Month Period Data
According to the data shared by the National Bureau of Statistics of China, the total profits of industrial enterprises with an annual turnover of over 20 million yuan increased by 4.2 percent in August compared to the same period of the previous year.
In the eight-month period covering January-August, the total profits of industrial companies recorded an increase of 15.7 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
Profitability Distribution by Sector
According to profitability data analyzed on a sectoral basis, increases of 35.1 percent were experienced in the mining sector and 17.4 percent in the manufacturing industry. In the same period, profits in the electricity, heat, gas, and water supply sector showed a decline of 12 percent.
Impact of Electronics Manufacturing
Profits generated in the electronics manufacturing business line recorded a massive increase of 110 percent, and this increase accounted for 62 percent of the total profit growth.
Developments in Previous Years
The total profits of industrial companies in China managed to recover for the first time following continuous declines in the previous three years, recording an increase of 0.6 percent in 2025.
The profits of the companies in question had shown decreases of 4 percent in 2022, 2.3 percent in 2023, and 3.3 percent in 2024.
