Israeli Airlines Plan to Resume Dubai Flights After Flydubai Incident

Israel's three largest airlines have applied to security authorities to resume flights to Dubai following a security incident on a flight. The companies are also planning rescue flights to bring back passengers stranded in the region.

Application for Dubai Flights

Israel's three largest airline companies—El Al, Israir, and Arkia—have requested the necessary permits from security authorities to resume flights to Dubai.

Airlines' Plans

El Al stated that it plans to operate at least two flights a day starting in November, pending approval from relevant government authorities.

Israir aims to operate up to 10 flights a week between Tel Aviv and Dubai, while Arkia announced it would resume operations as soon as operational and logistical preparations are completed.

Security Talks Continue

A high-ranking Israeli security official stated that discussions with their UAE counterparts are ongoing and that they hope to receive final approval for Israeli airlines soon.

Incident on Flydubai Flight

A disaster was averted on flydubai flight FZ1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv after the co-pilot stabbed the captain.

Thanks to the captain successfully opening the cockpit door, passengers subdued the attacker, and the backup crew landed the aircraft in Saudi Arabia.

Flight Suspension and Rescue Flights

While flydubai suspended its Tel Aviv flights while the investigation into the incident continues, the three Israeli airlines are planning rescue flights starting Friday to bring back stranded passengers.

The Ministry of Transportation also announced that it has sent an urgent request to Etihad Airlines to increase the number of flights between Abu Dhabi and Tel Aviv.
