İzmir athletes who won medals in Italy welcomed at the airport

İzmir gymnasts and other national athletes who won medals at the 20th Mediterranean Games and the European Championships held in Italy were welcomed with flowers by an enthusiastic crowd at Adnan Menderes Airport.

İzmir gymnasts, who dominated the medals at the 20th Mediterranean Games held in Italy from August 21 to September 3, have returned to the city.

The artistic gymnastics men's team, which became champions as a team, and the athletes who won medals individually were welcomed with flowers at the airport.

Individual successes stood out

Altan Doğan from İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club succeeded in winning the gold medal in the parallel bars final.

Mehmet Ayberk Koçak from Göztepe won the gold medal in the rings apparatus, and Ferhan Arıcan won the bronze medal in the pommel horse.

Pride in archery and athletics

Dünya Yenihayat, the national archer of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Sports Club, won a gold medal in the classical bow women's team and a silver medal in the mixed team.

İsmail Nezir from İzmir, who won a bronze medal at the 2026 European Athletics Championships, achieved two gold medals in relay races and a silver medal in the 400-meter hurdles.
