Kindergarten Students in Kansas City Become Reporters on World News Day

Students at the Goddard School of Liberty in Kansas City experienced journalism by acting as junior reporters and producing their own school news bulletin as part of World News Day.

Preschool students at the Goddard School of Liberty in Kansas City actively participated in World News Day celebrations. In this event, which included hundreds of schools nationwide, the children acted like journalists and examined what was happening around them.

Mysterious Footprints and News Production

Students investigated mysterious footprints discovered around the school as if it were breaking news, and then prepared their own news bulletin featuring school updates, weather forecasts, sports, and interviews.

Social Awareness and Educational Role

Education Director Becca Burick drew attention to the importance of children knowing what is happening in the world and understanding that news reporters are a part of society. The little ones also learned the details of the profession by interviewing real journalists.
