The news of King Oyo Nyimba's passing was announced to the public early Friday by Prime Minister Calvin Rwomiire Akiiki.
The official statement noted that the continuity of the throne is guaranteed and that a name will be announced in due course in accordance with traditions.

King Oyo was crowned through traditional rituals in 1995 at the age of three following the death of his father.
