LÖSEV Calls on the Ministry of Health Regarding KİTBANK and Donor Banking
On World Marrow Donor Day, Dr. Üstün Ezer called for LÖSEV to be included in the data banking and donor acquisition process.
In a statement marking September 19 World Marrow Donor Day, LÖSEV Founder Chairman Dr. Üstün Ezer emphasized the importance of stem cell transplantation, called on the Ministry of Health for KİTBANK, and requested that LÖSEV be included in the process.
Scope of Stem Cell Transplantation
It was reported that stem cell transplantation is not limited to leukemia treatment alone, but is also successfully applied in lymphomas, thalassemia, and certain congenital immune system disorders.
Lösante Hospital and Early Treatment
It was emphasized that adult leukemia and lymphoma patients can also be included in the transplantation program at LÖSEV Lösante Hospital, and that early transplantation is of vital importance in childhood congenital diseases.
Misconceptions Regarding the Donation Process
It was explained that a donor's own cells do not decrease following a stem cell donation, that they are regenerated in the bone marrow, and that a significant portion of donations are collected directly from the blood.
KİTBANK Project and Ministry Call
Recalling that LÖSEV applied under the name KİTBANK approximately 18 years ago, but permission could not be obtained despite the infrastructure being ready, it was requested that LÖSEV be included in the system alongside the national process.
Search for a Donor for Ahmet Cemal
It was stated that a suitable bone marrow transplant is being sought for 18-year-old high school student Ahmet Cemal Müftüoğlugil, who is undergoing treatment at LÖSEV Lösante Hospital, against the risk of leukemia recurrence.
